Obituary

Joan Duresa, 73, passed away peacefully with her three sons at her side on February 14, 2024, in Saint Louis, MO. She was born January 7, 1951, to Emil and Gertrude (nee Siewert) Duresa in Chicago, IL. Joan spent her career as a Legal Assistant at large law firms in the Chicago area before she retired and moved to St. Louis to be closer to grandchildren. In Chicago, Joan was heavily involved in her children's activities of Little League Baseball and Cub Scouts. Joan was active in the parishes she belonged to: St. Viator, St. Leonard, and most recently Sacred Heart Valley Park. She was a voracious reader and crocheter of hats for new born babies and patients with cancer. Joan also had two cats, Alley and Max, which she adored. Joan is the loving mother of Patrick (Debra) Bryowsky of Chicago, IL., Steven Bryowsky of Australia, and Jason (Kristina) Bryowsky of Saint Louis, MO. Joan is the cherished grandmother of Jessie, Aidan, Makenzie, Cadence, Aoife, Niamh, Siobhan and Noel. She is the dear sister of Elaine. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Emil and Gertrude, and former husband and good friend Ronald Bryowsky. Visitation will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 - 9:00 PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton. The funeral service for Joan will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 17 Ann Ave., Valley Park, MO 63088. Burial to follow Sacred Heart Cemetery in Valley Park, MO. Memorial donations can be made in Joan's name to Sacred Heart Ladies Club, 17 Ann Ave., Valley Park, MO 63088.
