Janet S. (Carlson) Hopkins, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and dear friend passed away early Sunday, November 13th, 2016 in St. Louis, MO. Born in Hebron, NE on September 25th, 1955, she spent most of her life in Nebraska before moving to High Ridge, Missouri in 2004. An active life-long Christian, she both worked and volunteered for churches throughout her lifetime including Faith United Methodist in Kearney, Nebraska and Transformation United Methodist in House Springs, Missouri. She shared her love of learning through teaching early in her career and continued later in life by giving piano lessons. As a talented musician she sang in praise bands and church choirs, played numerous instruments, and could be heard singing throughout the house often as a way to wake up her children or make chores just a little more fun. She enjoyed camping, old Westerns (especially Gunsmoke!), reading mysteries and history, traveling, bible studies, United Methodist Women, and most of all spending time with her four grandchildren Kiefer and Reid Lichtenberg and Aspen and Willow Hopkins. She is survived by her husband, Dale A. Hopkins of 37 years, her daughter Traci L. Lichtenberg, son Michael Hopkins, and brother Gary Carlson. Services will be held at Transformation United Methodist Church, 4869 Scottsdale Rd, House Springs, MO 63051, on Wednesday, November 16th at 10 AM and Shickley United Methodist Church, 609 Swartzendruber Dr, Shickley, NE 68436 on Saturday, November 19th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
