James (Jim) Fowler Struck., 71, of Fenton, MO, passed away at 6:50 am on July 18th 2014, at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Ballwin, MO. Memorial & Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton, MO (777 Oakwood Dr., Fenton, MO 63026). His ashes are to ultimately be ceremonially dispersed at the Caribbean Island of Aruba by the family-per the deceased's long time wishes. James was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 21st 1943 to James Alonzo Struck of Louisville and Martha Lucille Struck (Fowler) of Springfield, Kentucky. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1966 where he immediately met and later married Janice Horton of St. Louis & Madison County Missouri in 1967. He worked as a respected commercial printing production manager & project estimator until his retirement in 1992. He then spent his spare time enjoying his love of the outdoors, fishing and golfing with his 'boys'; following his passion for Kentucky and Louisville College Basketball and rooting against the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition he worked odd jobs and explored his affection for cooking by helping out in the kitchen at Caleco's -South County. Jim suffered an extensive stroke in 2003 and then survived a debilitating spinal cord infection in 2009. He resided at Delmar Gardens on the Green Nursing & Rehabilitation Center since 2008. He was preceded in death by both parents in 2002. James is survived by his brother and sisters; Robert Perry Struck of Homosassa Spring, Flordia, Martha Lucille Springston of Cookeville, Tennessee, Lt. Col. Susan Struck, USAF (Ret.) of McNeal, Arizona and Nancy Lee Robinson of Louisville, Kentucky; his sons James (Davette) Struck and Steven 'Danny' (Sherri) Struck; Grandchildren; Maryssa (Jeremy) Ortega, Joshua Struck, Rachel Struck and Brendan Wolff-all of Fenton, Missouri. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Delmar Gardens on the Green for their committed and wonderful care of James of the last several years.
