Obituary

James Alan Scheidt, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77. Jim was an honest, loyal, dependable and friendly man who rose to leadership positions in his endeavors. A Chapter officer in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University, from where he graduated in 1967. A volunteer during the Vietnam War, he was promoted to Company Commander in Naval Officer Candidate School, and was awarded an early spot promotion to Lieutenant in the Navy for his work in ship operations. He was well traveled, sailing the seven seas, visiting 5 continents, 20 foreign countries, all 50 states and 8 Canadian Provinces, drove the Alaska Highway as well as 24 other well-known highways, traces and trails. He had a 42 year career as a real estate appraiser where he earned the professional designation of SRA. He was the last president of the St. Louis Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and as such led the merger with the St. Louis Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He was an active member of the Little Flower Men's club where he served in several offices including 2 terms as president. In addition to this, he was a business owner, bank director, real estate broker, estate manager, and a primary care giver. His leisure time was filled with being a softball player and coach, trout fisherman, golfer, lumberjack, hunter, home remodeler, cabin builder, camper, caretaker, and being a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Patricia who were married for 54 years, a daughter Ericka (Sean) Murphy, a granddaughter, Meredith Shannon Murphy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim's honor to the Humane Society of Missouri. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Homes Fenton Chapel 777 Oakwood Dr. Fenton, MO 63026 Funeral Service at Jay B. Smith Funeral Homes Fenton Chapel at 9:30 AM with a visitation from 8:30 AM until time of service. Interment to follow with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 11:00 AM
