James R. Metcalf of St. Louis Mo. April 24, 1952 - February 28, 2021 , 68 years at John Cochran VA Hospital after a lengthy illness; Son of the late Woodrow Metcalf and Essie Metcalf (nee Hager); Brother of the late Joseph, Judy, & Janey; Beloved husband of Deborah Metcalf (nee Autery); Loving father of Michael (D'Ann) Metcalf and Woody Metcalf; Cherished grandfather of Chelsey Kashmitter; Close friend of Judy Slavin; Jim attended Maplewood, Mo. Public Schools, before joining the US Army serving in radio communications. Jim always showed his pride of the military service. In 2019 he retired from the Prosthetic Department at Jefferson Barracks memorial Hospital; Jim enjoyed construction work, spending many years in that business as well as a hobby. He loved Music, coin collecting, discussing politics, current news events and living his adventurous of life, his words, "both Highs & Lows"; Jim will be remembered most for his kindness, his humor, and his determination work at any of his goals and reaching out to friends; There will be a private burial at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
