James Walter McCarthy (Jim) died Saturday, September 21, 2024 of a heart attack. He was born in Panama February 6, 1945. Jim was a musician and an animal lover. As a musician he played pedal steel guitar with a number of local bands (the one he mentioned the most was Nick Silver's). There was a time when he drove a school bus! In his final years he supported himself with Social Security and the occasional dog or cat sitting job. He spent many happy days living with friends, shoveling snow and raking leaves at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and visiting with the dogs and cats of Dogtown . He knew all the critters names; their humans not so much. He is survived by his brother, John, of Baton Rouge Louisiana.
