IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Hayhurst
Brandt
April 29, 1941 – December 26, 2025
Jim Brandt was born on April 29, 1941 in St. Louis County, Missouri to James and Emma Brandt (Hayhurst). He entered the presence of the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carla Jean Brandt, son Patrick James Brandt and wife Kathy, daughter Linda Rademacher and husband Tim, Rebecca Schweiger and husband Rick, Gina Garner and Darin Garner, wife Traci; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Buzzanga, sisters-in-law Sharon Montgomery, husband Randy, Carlene Edwards, husband Ben and Vicki Herlan, husband Bill, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters June Hill and Phyllis Joseph.
Jim was a devout Christian, accepting Jesus as his Savior when he was a young boy. He has been a faithful member of Geyer Road Baptist church for over 35 years, teaching Sunday School on occasion, singing in the choir and singing with his wife Carla and sister-in-law Sharon, loving that family harmony. He was an accomplished guitar player and loved the old hymns of the church.
Jim graduated from Maplewood/Richmond Heights High School in 1959, and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed out of San Diego, California and deployed on the USS Noble where he went on three nine-month cruises to the West Pacific. Their ship was also deployed to Cuba for the missile crisis. He was very proud of his Navy service as a radio operator. After the Navy, Jim was employed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, also working as a radio operator, for 10 years.
His final employment was with Carboline Company in Brentwood, Missouri, for 33 years, as the Applications Department Supervisor. He loved doing his job well. and had an exemplary work ethic. He made many life-long friends at Carboline.
Jim would be the first to tell you not to grieve over his leaving this life. He is now finally at home in Heaven where he wanted to be for a very long time, reunited with family and friends, and most important of all, he is with his Savior, Jesus Christ. His message to all of us left behind would certainly be to come to saving faith through Jesus so we can be together once again.
