Obituary

Our beloved, Ivy Elizabeth Andrews (nee Soans), aged 96, peacefully went to be with her Savior on the night of April 2, 2025 in Maplewood, MO. Born in Udupi, Karnataka, India on July 24, 1928, her life exemplified unwavering faith, selfless service, and enduring love. Ivy's legacy of love spans five generations and reaches every continent. A cherished mother (Amma) to three children, a beloved grandmother (Ajjamma) to six, a nurturing great-grandmother (Pijji) to six, and a proud great-great-grandmother to six, Ivy is survived by her dear sister, Vatsala Venkatachalam, the youngest of her seven siblings. Together, they shared the enduring strength that only faith and family can offer, a special bond deeply rooted in love and resilience. Ivy dedicated her life to serving others, trusting in God's full provision through every trial and hardship she faced. Married at age 18, after the birth of her three children, Ivy was widowed by age 30. For the next 38 years, Ivy worked as the superintendent of the 'Shelter', formally known as, League of Mercy, a home for children in need, located in Byculla, Mumbai, India. Ivy's unwavering love and care earned her the affectionate name "Aunty" from the children she served, a testament to the bond she shared with them. Through her compassion and tireless efforts, hundreds of children found hope and matured into productive members of society, leaving an impact in communities around the world. Ivy's influence extends far beyond what can be measured, touching lives in ways only God could orchestrate through her. Everyone who met Ivy remembers her deep faith, contagious laugh, radiant joy and quiet strength. She was devoted to her Savior, and now rejoices in His presence. She is now experiencing the fulfillment of His promises that she held dear throughout her life. As we mourn her earthly absence, we celebrate the wonderful life she lived and the certainty that she is now joyful in heaven with her Savior. She ran her race well, fought the good fight, and kept the faith. "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23 Burial details: After the service, a graveside burial service will be held at 12:15pm at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63133.
