Helen Ruth Sparks (nee Brown) of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2026, at the age of 95 years old. She was born on December 19th, 1930, in Pocahontas Arkansas to the late John Brown and Willia Brown (nee Warnell).
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Helen showed her love for children by spending many years caring for them in her home. She provided a loving safe place for the little ones of working parents.
Helen was baptized in the Pentecostal Faith at a young age. Later in life she joined the Union Baptist Church in Alton, Illinois, under the pastoral care of Pastor Kelvin Ellison and currently Pastor Will Rivers. Even though she wasn't able to physically attend church she remained a devoted member through online participation until health issues prevented her from doing so.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents John and Willia Brown, husband Clay Sparks, son Rickey Sparks, brother Gerald Brown, sister Freda Baldridge, and granddaughter Pamela Lafleur. She is survived by "her girls" Brenda Cleveland, Karen Baldridge and Lisa Cleveland, grandsons Thomas Lafleur, Jason Sparks, her deacon and dear friend Dave Alberternst and a host of family and Friends.
Helen will be remembered for her love of her family and her unwavering faith and thoughts of her will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 11:00AM-1:00PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00PM, also at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas, Arkansas at 1:00PM.
