Gertrude Holden (nee Hausler) left us on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Hugh Holden. Loving mother of Roy (Donna) Holden and the late Klaus Holden. Mother-in-law of Charolotta Holden. Cherished grandmother of 4 and great-grandmother of 7. Dear sister of five late brothers and sisters. Our special mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. Gertrude was the type of woman who could inspire others. She was the epitome of a lady. Every morning, rain or shine she would prepare for the day. Gertrude always had her make-up on, hair done, nails polished and she was dressed, ready to face the day. When she moved to Fenton sometime after Hugh passed, she joined the Fenton United Methodist Church where she attended for several years. She was a military wife and mother for 27 years. She was born in Czechoslovakia on December 19, 1920, but the United States was her adopted country. Gertrude was very patriotic. She served as president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Hampton, VA for many years. To say she loved this country could not begin to describe her. We will miss her dearly. Private family gathering to be held.
