Akavehe Dear Brother of: Robert Stubblefield Flynn was a father-in-law, son-in-law, cousin, and friend to many Flynn Joseph Stubblefield was born on June 9, 1932 to Flynn and Mary Stubblefield in Louisville, KY at Jewish Hospital. He grew up in Louisville and the area surrounding Churchill Downs with his mother Mary and her brother, known as Uncle Martin. After high school Flynn served at the monastery, Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist KY, as Brother Adrian. Flynn later attended the University of Louisville where he graduated in May 1966 with degrees in physics and mathematics. He wed to Margaret M. Boesing on June 9, 1963 and lived the next several years near Cherokee Road in Louisville KY. In February 1964 their first child, David was born and in September 1966 their daughter Cressid was born. Shortly, after graduating the family of four moved from Louisville KY to St. Louis MO where Flynn began his career as a mathematician, programmer and analyst for about 40 years. In February of 1970 their third child, Adrian was born. The family to this day lives in the suburbs of St. Louis. Throughout the years Flynn enjoyed classical music, opera, philosophy, logic, film and the arts such as paintings and sculptures. Flynn also enjoyed reading mystery and detective stories such as the many short stories and TV shows of Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and books by Donald Westlake. All this he shared with his family while providing many moments of very dry and witty humor. Flynn passed away in the early hours on Thursday May 10, 2018 at the age of 85. His last hours were spent quietly with family in the comfort of his home in St. Louis, MO. He is survived by his wife, Margaret and their children David (wife Alejandra), Cressid (husband Ken), and Adrian (wife Sandra), and their 9 grandchildren Karla (husband Jesús), Alex, Sam, Christian, Joseph, Julen, Aaron, Maelah and Akavehe. A private family memorial service was held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. He is and will be missed as a man who taught his children and grandchildren about God's grace and sharing his love for life.
