Elnora Davey was born Elnora Chandler on August 10, 1933, in Okitibbeha, Mississippi to Jess Chandler and Mary Perkins. She was born the child of seven children. Preceding her in death are her parents Jessie Chandler Sr. and Mary Belle Hall; husband Welton Davey Sr.; two brothers Jessie Chandler Jr. and Frank Chandler and three sisters Callie Bolin, Annie Edmond and Anna Sacus. On June 23, 1955, Elnora married Welton Davey Sr. The two were husband and wife until his passing on October 21, 2005. Most of her work history was spent at Decorator Fold Drapery Cleaners here in St. Louis, MO working as a machine operator. This is the company that she supported her family from and eventually retired from. Elnora was a very simple person. She loved to cook. On almost any given week you could find a homemade cake sitting on the kitchen table. If ever you walked in her house, you always knew that there was a refrigerator full of food ready to eat. She was a great woman that would do any and everything for her family and friends. Even with dementia, every day up until her passing, she would say "I love you Davey". She will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Welton Davey Jr.; brother, Willie Chandler and sister Golena Conley; 3 grandchildren, grandson, Dion Anthony Davey, Anika Chanel Davey and Daysha Lashell Green, granddaughters; 5 great grandchildren, Terah Courtney Braxton, Brielle Denise Harris, Tyler James Davey, Camryn Avery Green and Christopher Jordan Davey. You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. David Harkins When you lose someone you love, Your life becomes strange, The ground beneath you becomes fragile, Your thoughts make your eyes unsure; And some dead echo drags your voice down Where words have no confidence Your heart has grown heavy with loss; And though this loss has wounded others too, No one knows what has been taken from you When the silence of absence deepens. John O'Donahue Acknowledgements The family of Elnora Davey wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. May God Bless and Keep You!
