Retired MGySgt Donald L. Kopff, 67, passed away peacefully at his Highland Park home on April 13, 2021. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 4, 1953. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 4, 1971. While in the Marine Corps he attended many schools, was stationed on bases here and abroad. His accomplishments were widely varied, and he served with honor. Upon his retirement in 2001, he had achieved the rank of MGySgt. His personal decorations included Meritorious Service Medal, 2 Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals, 2 Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 6 United States Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, The Humanitarian Service Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals, 5 Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and 3 Navy Arctic Service Ribbons. He qualified as an Expert Rifle and Pistol Sharp Shooter. Donald loved being surrounded by family and friends, whether it was hosting karaoke nights & BBQs, camping on the beach, riding his motorcycle from CA to NC or boat rides at the Ozarks. He loved being a Papaw and spoiling his Grandkids with trips to Zoos, Six Flags, building Lego sets and a lot of tickles. Donald is predeceased by his father Donald C. Kopff, his mother Dawn Fay Kopff, his sister Denise Seemayer, and his wife Mary Kopff. He is survived by his sister Debra McDermott, Brother-in-Laws Tom McDermott & David Seemayer, his daughter Marcella Burns, his daughter Rachel Fermin, son in law Alberto Fermin, grand children, Emma, Don, Darren, Alex, Jessica, his youngest daughter Dana Kopff, and his granddog Daisy.
