Donald Francis Hoffmann, born January 9, 1938, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 88. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and uncle, he placed his family at the center of his life and was known for his kindness and steadfast friendship to all who knew him.Don built a distinguished career as a computer programmer and manager at Monsanto, where his diligence, skill, and leadership were widely respected. While working, he also completed some college studies, reflecting a life long commitment to learning and problem-solving. Beyond his professional accomplishments, his greatest passion was flight. From an early love of airplanes, he became a licensed pilot and a flight instructor, sharing the joy and discipline of aviation with others. He also spent countless happy hours building and flying remote-control airplanes. Aproud St. Louisan at heart, he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues and the St. LouisCardinals.Donald is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elvera Hoffmann, his sister Barbara Hibbard, his nephew Jeff Hibbard, his daughter in-law Marykay Hoffmann,his son David Hoffmann and grandson Travis Hoffmann. Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy; his children, Donald E. Hoffmann and Donna (John) Hermosillo;his cherished grandchildren, Casey. (Justin), Christy, Elizabeth (Libby), Ian, Jeffrey, and Jason; and his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Hudson, Audrey, Oliver, Grey, Jeffrey Jr.,and Jacob. He will also be remembered with love by many extended relatives and dear friends. In keeping with his generous spirit and commitment to helping others, Donald has donated his body for scientific research to St. Louis University.A celebration of Donald's life will be held on July 10, 2026, at Helen Fitzgeralds Irish Pub and Restaurant. 3650 S.Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis Mo 63217 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for a life well lived and a legacy of love,integrity, and service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aphasia Clinic at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Donald's family is deeply grateful for the kindness and support extended during this time and finds comfort in the many lives he touched.
