Obituary

Dewey Dean Propst was born on July 1, 1939 in Sedgewickville, MO. to Harley Propst and Hattie Propst (nee Bollinger). He was the youngest of 5 children. His 3 brothers were Albert Ray (Nelda Jean) Propst, Edward Burl (Louise) Propst, and Hansel (Leona) Propst. His only sister was Verla Jean (Howard) Crites. All of Dewey's siblings preceded him in death. He has 8 nieces and nephews. Debra Jean (John) Monroe, Emma Lou Propst, Edward (Shelley) Propst, Terry (Anna Mayo) Propst, Kevin Propst, Sharon (Dennis) Oloteo, Dean (Sandy) Crites, and Sue Jorden. Dewey leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews. Dewey was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church and graduated from Patton High School in 1957. He joined the Navy shortly thereafter. He served 4 years and then re-enlisted for another 2 years. After his discharge, he worked at McDonnell Douglas and in 1968, he started at Brown Shoe Company as a programmer and was a senior systems analyst when he retired in 2002. In February of 1969, Dewey met Pat Brusatori at Brown Shoe. They were married on September 12, 1970 and have just celebrated their 47th anniversary. While working at Brown Shoe, Dewey continued to attend night school at Washington University and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree of Science in Systems and Data Processing. Dewey always enjoyed being around people, although he was the quiet type. He enjoyed listening to others, but when he spoke up, everyone would pay attention, because it was usually pretty entertaining! He had a great sense of humor and always had a pleasant smile. Dewey changed his church membership to Fenton United Methodist Church in late in late 1990s and was very active in his church family. He was known to many as Papa Dewey since 2004 and leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Dylan, Rylee, Sedona, Brianna, Keaton and Shelby Kyle. He loved his extended family very much and will truly be missed. In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer's Association or Fenton United Methodist Church
