Chester Udell Mansfield Jr, age 57 , passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 with his daughter and father at his bedside. He was born June 24, 1967 on his way to the hospital in Peoria, IL, to Chester and Carol Mansfield. Chester resided in St. Louis, Mo. He spent his years working in carpentry, tree removal, and landscaping. He had a love for horticulture and nature, as well as playing the lottery. He lived a simple life, as luxury was not important to him. He would often put other people's needs ahead of his own. Chester was always full of riddles and enjoyed sitting out on the porch, exchanging humor with friends while drinking a cold beer. His craftsmanship did not go unnoticed as he helped so many with their projects from renovations to new construction. Chester's pride and joy was his daughter and granddaughters. His face lit up when he talked about them. He is very loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by his father, Chester Mansfield Sr, daughter and Son In Law, Johana and Joseph Layton, two granddaughters, Emory and Mylah Layton, brother and sister in law, Dwayne and Folina Mansfield, sister and brother in law, Melissa and Chuck Baker, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Chester is preceded in death by his mother Carol Mansfield. Visitation will be held Monday, August 12, 2024, from 10-12 at The Jay B Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood, Mo. Services for Chester U. Mansfield Jr will begin at noon following the visitation.
