Charles Frederick Raymond Umphenour, Born February 25, 1923 in Danville Il. and passed away March 18, 2021 @ Laclede Groves Care Center, Webster Groves Mo. at 98 years of age; Beloved husband of the late Viola Umphenour (nee Fischer)for 68 years; Dear son of the late Carl Umphenour Sr. and Martha Umphenour (nee Rehberg; Loving father of Charles (Claudia) Umphenour and the late Darlene Umphenour; Cherished grandfather of Andrea (Robert) Careway, Kimberly (Geoff) Burns, John Zugel IV, Scott (Larissa) Umphenour, and Patrick (Tiffany) Umphenour, and great grandfather of Cody, Katelyn,Kayla, Tyler, Johnathan, Bryant, Peyton, & Taylor; Dear brother of the late Carl Umphenour Jr, Everett Umphenour, Harold Umphenour, Barton Umphenour, Edythe Morgan & Zepha Roark; Our dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many; Charles served in WWII in the Army Air Force, as a Corporal in the 8th AAF Radio Squadron Mobile, APO 246, his specialty was Japanese Interceptor Operator; Charles enjoyed doing accounting on a volunteer basis all his life. he kept up with the tax regulations and prepared tax returns for many years. After he retired, he worked with AARP preparing tax returns. He was treasurer for the church for many years and at age 98 was still auditing the church books. He always said that working with numbers kept his mind young and alert; He and Viola enjoyed genealogy and spent a lot of time in libraries, churches and cemeteries researching all the family lines; Memorial to Mount Calvary Church Mission Fund; He was very proud of his family and talked about them all the time; Visitation Monday March 22, 2021 10:00am-11:00am with an 11:00am service at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Brentwood Mo. Interment Laurel Hill cemetery
