Obituary

Charles "Bill" William Blank II, of Glendale Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Bill was born on October 19, 1939, to Charles and Lucille Blank in Boonville, Missouri. Growing up in St. Louis, he attended Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) and later Soldan High School. He studied drafting at Ranken Technical College and received a degree in architecture from Washington University. Bill worked as an Architect for over 30 years in St. Louis. His projects included hospitals, laboratories, nuclear power plants, and ballparks. He retired from HOK in 2002. On September 19,1964, Bill married his spouse of 60 years Jennie Rose Blank. Bill and Jennie had three children: Vicki Lucille Miller and her spouse Charles Miller, Cyndee Margaret England, and Barrett William Blank. Bill has one grandson William Michael England. Bill was a proud member and leader within the deaf community for decades. He belonged to the Greater St. Louis Association for the Deaf (GSLAD), and was actively involved in the Missouri Association for the Deaf (MOAD). He was inducted into the Midwest Athletic Association for the Deaf Hall of Fame for his contributions as an athlete and coach. In 1972, Bill became the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 132 at CID and mentored numerous young men attending CID for over 20 years. His service to the Boy Scouts was recognized with many awards, including the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest award for a scout leader. Bill was a long time member of St. Thomas Espicopal Church for the Deaf and served in various leadership roles within the church. Bill was an avid sports fan and collector. He played fast pitch softball, loved bowling, and managed a slow pitch softball team that won several championships. Bill and Jennie Rose followed the St Louis Cardinals and Blues as season ticket holders for several years. He always rooted for his beloved Oklahoma Sooners football team and Kansas Jayhawks basketball team. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family at his family ranch in Montauk Missouri. Bill's love of life and people will be sadly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greater St. Louis Association for the Deaf, GSLAD, appreciated.
