Celia Mason was born in St. Louis on October 1, 1919. She was a graduate of Roosevelt HS and of Missouri Baptist School of Nursing. She was married from 1943 to 1948 to Palmer Rawley. Two sons were born, Alan and Cliff. She worked as an RN for 30 years with the City of St. Louis at Chronic Hospital. She was a member of the SW Baptist Church in St. Louis for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Woman's Missionary Union. She had a great love for God and family. She provided a home for her mother,Hazel Shore, for 30 years until her death in 1973. She was blessed to marry Don Mason in 1973 and had a happy marriage until Don's death in 2005. Don and Celia were proud to take road trips to all 48 states. In her retirement from nursing Celia and Don were active volunteers at Missouri Baptist Hospital for over 20 years. They taught classes for new parents and new grandparents. They launched a "heart pillow" ministry at the hospital that still blesses many patients. Celia loved all of her many grand children and great grand children. She and Don moved to Springfield, Mo in 2002 to be closer to family. Don and Celia took up painting classes in retirement and created wonderful water colors prized by all. Contributions may be made in her honor to the Samaritan's Purse Ministry, lead by Franklin Graham. Visitation will be on Friday, January 22 from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Jay B.Smith Funeral Home Maplewood Chapel 7456 Manchester, followed by a Memorial Service at 1 PM at the same location with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
