Catherine "Dorothy" Beaven, 95, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 7, 1930, in Evansville, IN, to Joseph S. Rumage and Catherine (Dora) Kaelin Rumage, the 1st of 11 children. On February 3, 1951, Dorothy married Howard Beaven. Together they shared 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2015. They raised seven children who were the heart of their home: Karen (Dennis) Fanning of New Baden, IL; Mark (Kathy) Beaven of Eureka, MO; Kim (Dan) Lichtenberger of Mexico, MO; Matt (Jill) Beaven of Eureka, MO; Patrick Beaven (Linda Soetebier) of Eureka, MO; Julia (Todd) Hall of Old Monroe, MO; and Dan (Elaine) Beaven of Imperial, MO. Dorothy's legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren: Denny (Megan) Fanning, Tim (Carrie Rosales) Fanning, Brian (Tara) Sumner, Anna (Jeff) Trauth, Alex Beaven, Katy Beaven, Kyle Lichtenberger, Dana (Xavier) Lichtenberger, Nick Beaven, Emily (Dave) Callanan, Zach (Stephanie) Beaven, Stevie Beaven, Ryan (Courtney) Chernin, Casey (Zach) Zeris, Tyler Hall, Josh Beaven and Taylor Beaven. 12 great-grandchildren: Isla, Ellie, Lana, Kenny, Andrew, Alice, Eli, Harper, Olivia, Logan, Ashlyn and Rylee. She is survived by her fabulous, fun-loving sisters Geraldine Kempf, Jenny Grose, Barbara Heneisen and Delores Alber, her brother-in-law John Alber, sister-in-law Judy Rumage and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her brothers Joseph (Bud) Rumage, Jim Rumage, John Rumage, her sisters Irene Kaiser, Mary Rose Rumage, and Paulette Anderson. Brother-in-laws, Ron Anderson, Howard Heneisen, Tom Kempf, Paul Kaiser, Ken Grose, Bill Beaven, and Dick Beaven. Sister-in-laws Norma Rumage, Regina Forler, Joyce Beaven, Bonnie Beaven and Geneva Beaven. Dorothy began her career at Indiana Bell before marrying and then moving to the St. Louis area, where she devoted herself to caring for her home and raising her children. After later settling in Fenton, MO, she found joy working at Camp Wyman in Eureka, MO, an organization that connects underprivileged teens to their voices, their strengths, and their futures. This was a role she truly treasured. A talented and beloved cook, Dorothy's kitchen was always filled with warmth, love, and the delicious recipes her family continues to cherish. She welcomed everyone into her home reflecting the kindness and generosity she extended to everyone she met. All of her kids knew she was a wonderful mother. Their spouses also agreed she was a great mother-in-law. Dorothy's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Paul's Church, where she found community and spiritual strength. She once served as the treasurer for St. Paul's Birthright and was a member of the St. Anne's quilters. She enjoyed helping out wherever she could. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed being a part of the Bentley Farms Lunch Club with her neighborhood friends. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with the many loved ones who have gone before her. A special Mass for Dorothy will be held: Monday, March 24 at 12:00 PM.
