Calvin Otto Flesch, of Ballwin, Missouri, asleep in Jesus on February 25, 2026, at the age of 99.
Calvin was born on December 8, 1926, in Weldon Spring, Missouri to Richard Flesch Sr. and Bertha Lix.
Calvin grew up on the family farm on Independence Road in Weldon Spring. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Harvester, Missouri (St. Charles County). His confirmation verse was Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."
In 1946, Calvin joined the Army and served overseas in the occupation of Japan. In 1948 he attended the University of Missouri through the Gl Bill and graduated with a BS in Agriculture. His first job was working for the Farmers Home Administration in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1955 he joined the Missouri Highway Department as a Geology and Soils Technologist. In 1966 the Highway Department relocated Calvin and his family to Springfield, Missouri, where he spent the rest of his career until he retired in 1992 and then returned to the St. Louis area after retirement.
Calvin met Mabel Ellen Huelsoketter at the historic Casa Loma Ballroom in St. Louis, Missouri in 1957. They were married on May 11, 1958, and richly blessed with two children, Greg and Marsha, during their 46 years of marriage. Calvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and served as an usher, elder, board of trustee member and on the evangelism committee at his church. He was an avid gardener, Cardinals baseball fan, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends over a meal or cup of coffee.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mabel Flesch, son Gregory Flesch, and siblings Olinda, Walter, Alma, Ella, Alvina, Marie, Richard Jr, and Paul. He is survived by his daughter Marsha Baebler (Mike), daughter-in-law Marsha Flesch, four grandchildren, Adria Christen (Oliver), Layton Baebler (fiancé Laarni), Garrett Flesch (Casey), Jacob Flesch, and one great-grandchild, Felix Christen.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am-10:30am on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fenton with funeral services beginning at 10:30am. Burial services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00am at Mount Hope Cemetery.
