Allen Glenn Proemsey, 93, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. He was born on August 18, 1932, in St. Louis to John and Myrtle Proemsey. Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Above all, he was deeply in love with his wife, Mary-the love of his life and his constant companion through the many chapters of their journey together. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Allen served his country for 20 years. He flew in Korea aboard a B-36 Peacemaker and later served as a tail gunner on a B-52 during the Vietnam War. His courage, dedication, and sense of duty were matched only by his quick wit and humility. Those who knew Allen will forever remember his trademark response whenever asked how he was doing: "Still old and ugly." That humor-sharp, sincere, and full of life-captured the essence of who he was: honest, grounded, and always ready with a grin. Allen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. His family and friends will carry his stories, lessons, and warmth with them always. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 10:00-11:00AM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood, with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will be on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10:00AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
