Alan Oscar Thor born 9/1/1936 in Detroit Michigan- passed away on 8/24/2024 in St. Louis, MO. Dear husband to Janet (Stacer) for almost 63 years Dear father to Rick Thor, Mays Landing, NJ, Julie (Jeff) Szymczak Port Orange, FL. Lisa (Rick) Carr Imperial, MO. Lori (Chris) Armstrong Fenton, Mo. Preceded in death by one son, Scott Thor and one grandson Andrew Armstrong He was surrounded by family at the time of his death where he entered heaven peacefully. Proud grandpa to Rachel, Brittany, Alex, Adam, Justin, Andrew, Joseph, Zachary, Austin and Jessica. And he was a devoted Great Grandpa to Camryn, Alexis, Gabriel, Charlotte, Emersyn and Jameson. A dear Brother, Brother- in- law, Uncle, Cousin, and friend to many. Al was a tenured employee of Chrysler Corporation. In the 1960's and 70's he was a contractor at Cape Canaveral in Florida working on many projects including the Apollo program. After the Apollo program ended he moved the family to St. Louis and worked at the Chrysler Assembly plant in Fenton as an Electrical Engineer until his retirement. He and Jan were avid members of the Missouri/Illinois Polka Club and enjoyed many years polka dancing with their friends. They were featured on the Polka Joe Show many times and danced with their club in many holiday parades. His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren Visitation will be Thursday, August 29th. 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Jay B Smith funeral chapel, 777 Oakwood, Fenton MO Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 30th. 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic church, Fenton MO. Burial: Vallhalla Cemetery, Bellville IL.
