Samuel R. Murphy

February 10, 1999 - April 24, 2022

Samuel Ryan Murphy, 23 Samuel (Sam) Murphy passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Sam is survived by his parents, Kevin, and Kimberly (Deters) Murphy; sister, Elise (Murphy) Widiger; brother-in-law, Mitchell Widiger; the love of his life, Madison Bruce. Beloved grandson of Ruth Murphy and the late Robert Murphy and James Deters and the late Linda Deters. Sam leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. Sam was born on February 10, 1999, in St. Louis, Missouri. Truly to know Sam was to love him. He had a charismatic personality that just seemed to draw people to him. He was a compassionate and selfless person, always supportive and a motivating friend to many. More than anything Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and rarely parted without giving a hug. Sam graduated from Rockwood Summit High School in 2017. After completing a year at Missouri State University, he opted to come home and pursue another path. He most recently seemed to have found his niche working on remodeling homes with his dad and was loving it so much he had started working on building a website and brainstorming a company name. Sam was super excited about this home he was remodeling. The plan was to keep this home where he and Madison would eventually move in with their dog, Loki. It was fun to watch them walk through the home and envision what they wanted to make of it. Sam had a love for sports. He played baseball growing up with a core group of teammates for many years. He took that passion into his twenties when he began playing slow pitch softball for fun. He loved bowling, hunting, shooting clay birds, and riding ATVs at the family farm. Sam was a fanatic about going to the Blues Hockey games. He loved being on the camera and got so good at it that he was in the intro video before each game! His quick wit, wonderful personality, and beautiful smile will be missed forever. A memorial is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton, MO. There is a private service starting at 2 p.m. for family and close friends followed by a visitation from 3 – 8 p.m.
