Rosella "Rose" M. Kennedy
September 4, 1927 - January 6, 2021
Rosella “Rose” Kennedy was born in Vincennes, Indiana on September 4, 1927. She passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in her home at Hawthorne Place in Kirkwood, MO. Rose moved to St. Louis in 1950 where she married her husband of 56 years, Ronald “Bud” Kennedy. Rose worked as a secretary for many years in addition to raising her two daughters, Kathy and Karen. She was a long time parishioner of St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Brentwood, MO. Rose lived a life of service to God and to her fellow man. When her children were young she served as a Girl Scout leader and volunteered in the school cafeteria. Later she volunteered at St John Mercy Hospital and was active in the pro-life group at her church. She was especially proud of attending the March for Life in Washington DC with a group from St Louis. In retirement she loved to travel with her husband and made many trips across the country to sightsee and shop. Rose was also a dedicated walker and spent many hours walking at the mall with her good friend, Betty. Rose considered herself a “caregiver” and could be counted on to help wherever she was needed. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, Bud, her brother, Rev. Richard Hoffman, and two sisters, Lucille Hoffman and Rita Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Boyer and her husband Terry, and Karen Kennedy. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Dustin Kennedy, Megan Broeckling, Emily Boyer, and Carrie Boyer, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Rose and Beau Broeckling. Rose was lovingly cared for by the staff at Hawthorne Place for the last 3 years of her life and her family gives them their greatest thanks. Memorials to St Jude Children’s Hospital
