Karen Ann Hollandsworth (nee Davis), 76, passed away peacefully Monday, January 11th, 2021, surrounded by her family. A private ceremony with immediate family will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place this coming Spring. Karen was born in Charleston, WV, on November 29th, 1944. In her teen years, her family moved to California where she continued her education and met the love of her life, Lane Hollandsworth. They married in September of 1963. Shortly thereafter, they began their life in St. Louis where they were blessed with two daughters and 57 loving years of marriage. Her true happiness came from loving and caring for her family. From the many dinners and celebrations she hosted, to the thoughtful little surprises that would come on any given day or time, her enduring love was always known. Karen was a vivacious, fun, caring, big-hearted spirit that touched the heart of everyone she met. Her constant smile was contagious. She never met a stranger, and always offered a warm embrace to everyone she met. Her lifelong passion of cooking took her down many avenues, including running her own restaurant, Jamestown Restaurant, owning her own cake shop, Karen Ann’s, and managing other restaurants as well. She had many hobbies that included gardening, painting, drawing, and crosswords. And let us not forget her favorite show Jeopardy. Karen’s caring nature led her down a life of giving to others. She gave much of her time and heart to the House Springs Lion’s Club. She served as president for several years and proudly founded the House Spring’s Christmas parade, which still occurs year after year. She devoted many hours to a variety of volunteer activities through the years. She served as activities director to Alzheimer’s patients, participated in Clean Stream, and volunteered at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, just to name a few. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Lane Hollandsworth, daughters Kim (Tony) Glass and Kelly Quinlan, grandchildren Jon Gebel and Kaitlin Antisdel, great-granddaughters Avery Gebel, and Jade Antisdel, and brothers Harold (Susan) Davis and late James Davis, as well as a vast array of loving family members including her beloved sister and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. Karen will be deeply missed by all who love her. A private service will take place on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, 777 Oakwood Dr., Fenton, MO 63026. Karen will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A celebration of life is being planned for the upcoming Spring. The family lovingly and with appreciation accepts flowers or donations to Backstoppers.
