Joseph Charles Huighe

December 23, 1927 - December 29, 2020

Joseph Charles Huighe, 93 Beloved Husband of the late Joan Elaine Huighe Dear Son of the the late Joseph and Elizabeth Huighe Loving Father of Kim Parker (Pat Parker), Laura (the late Dave) Hamby, Carol Huighe ( Ellis Athanas), Amy Sellers and Krist (Ardell) Calicutt Devoted Grandfather of Blair Wade, Dylan (Renee) Parker, Jason Hamby, Amerika Devine, Chelsey Devine and Payton Sellers Cherished Great Grandfather of Xander Parker, Felix Parker and Taylor Wade Dear Brother of Emily Rachas and the late Eddie and Artie Huighe Joseph was a Father-In-Law, Son-In-Law, Brother-In-Law, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and Friend. Joseph was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all. Joseph Charles Huighe was one-of-kind. Proud Free Mason-Scottish Rite, and Shriner. Member of the United Church of Christ-Christ Church in Maplewood. He spent majority of his successful career with ACTWU(Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union) and retired as Vice President. Although he was raised on the south side of the city of St. Louis, he was a country boy at heart. An avid hunter, he spent many weekends at his country place in Steelville Missouri, and many of us were lucky to have experienced these trips and his love of the outdoors. He was proud of his high school roots at Cleveland High School, and was recognized as an outstanding athlete in baseball and football. As a couch and mentor for many of us in sports, he knew it all. Baseball was his second love, my mom was his first of course. Joe knew no stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. He'd remind you that you owe him a shirt, but he'd give it to you. He loved being a Girl Dad, and his daughters gave him joy and grey hair. He was the dad that cheered the loudest on the sidelines and had your back if you were in a bind. Always a sharp dresser, he carried himself with elegance and grace, and was bigger than life itself. God fearing and purpose driven, he walked with all the values you would want in a great man. He is now with his best friend and sweetheart in heaven, his late wife and our amazing mother, Joan. They were a true love story and showed us all how real love is done. He loved is daughters and dearly loved his grandkids. He always said they were the best treat on any given day. He was proud that he lived a long life and was able to see his great grandkids. We will keep his stories going, as he had many. Until we meet again, our hero. *Due to covid restrictions, the service will be a PRIVATE family only service. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Joseph at a later date.
