Barbara A. Smith

September 11, 1947 - February 28, 2022

Barbara "Boo Boo" Ann Smith (nee Bannecker), 74, Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Monday, February 28, 2022. Beloved wife of Don H. Smith. Loving mother of Jackie (Bart) Schulte, Daniel (Paige) Smith and Toni (Peter) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Gabie, Natalie, Gavin, Kaden, Kinsley, Killian, Jack and Alex. Dear sister of Patricia (Sonny) Ellington. Aunt of Chad Ellington and Brad Ellington. Proud puppy mom of Bonnie & Clyde. Dear mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. It is with extreme sadness that we share the passing of our rock, our hero, our Boo Boo. She lived her life for her family. She fiercely loved Don, her kids, grandkids, and her family in Colorado. Above all her grandkids were her pride and joy. Boo Boo was the guide and glue of our family. She welcomed all with open arms. Don and Barb spent over 55 years of life together. They took pride in their love for each other and how much they still enjoyed each other's company. Through those 55 years, good or bad, they got through each day together. They are a shining example of unconditional love and the work marriage and life takes. Boo Boo fought cancer with grace and dignity for the past year. She showed us what strength truly means. Boo Boo always said " You don't know what tomorrow brings, never say goodbye without telling people what they mean to you." So Boo Boo... "we love you". Memorial mass will be on Saturday, March 5, 2022, 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 15 Forest Knoll Dr., Fenton, MO. Celebration of life to follow at Helen Fitzgerald's, 3650 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO. All who knew her and loved her are welcome to attend. At the celebration of life and service we request everyone to wear a pop of purple in remembrance of mom. She loved the color purple more than anything. In lieu of flowers donations to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Association and/or Alzheimers Association appreciate.
